We will be there in a time of crisis.
Crisis Response Team
The crisis response team will consist of five to six on-call teams who will respond to any critical incident - any violent incident where severe injury or death occurs.
This team will consist of PCAV volunteers, faith based members, Peoria organizations, grief counselors, etc - who will help out, as we say, on the other side of the police tape. We would help with the crowd, assist witnesses wanting to share information - and possibly the most important part - assisting those who experienced any form of trauma from the incident (this could be victims, their families, families of the suspects, friends, family, witnesses) by providing resources and support during that vulnerable time. We would then follow up with the people that we interact with later (within a day or two) to see if they need any further assistance.
The goal is to help those who experience trauma get the help they need. There could be direct or indirect forms of violence that occur because of this one incident. By helping those experience trauma, we want those people to be able to live that normal life.
